Carbene Ligands
We have developped routes towards carbene ligands derived from natural products (xanthines), which are found in coffee, tea and chocolate and have studied their coordination chemistry with various transition metals.
Arylamidoethyl-functioalised imidazolium salts undergo a tripple-deprotonation forming cyclometallated platinum complexes containing a tridendate, dianionic carbene ligand.
